2012 Requirement

Guidance for Submission

Please prepare the following two items ( manuscript , entry sheet ) as instructed below.

Manuscript

  • 300 – 500 pages (Based on 400 characters per page.)
  • Hand written manuscripts are not accepted.
  • Must be printed out on square-less, unlined A4 paper.
  • Page numbers should be inserted in the bottom left corner of every page.
  • Page 1 will be the cover, and should only contain the title, the writer’s pen name and number of pages based on 400 characters per page.
  • The manuscript should be joined with a clip etc. at the upper right side to prevent it becoming loose.

Entry sheet

Please print the following horizontally and clearly (with the name of the item also) on vertical A4 paper.

  • Title (furigana)
  • Pen name or real name (furigana)
  • Number of pages based on 400 characters per page
  • Address
  • Name
  • Contact details (telephone / fax / e-mail address)
  • Date of birth / age
  • Occupation and profile (Include writing career and any prizes received)
  • Media through which you found out about this award
  • Synopsis of the story within 800 words. (This is for confirmation purposes so please include all the developments and ending.)

※The personal information provided will be used during the screening and for contacting entrants and will only be used by this office. Information will processed statistically so that it cannot be linked to a specific individual. The information provided will not be used for any other purposes.

Important points

Important points
  • Only unpublished works written in Japanese will be accepted. (Works that have been submitted elsewhere will not be accepted.)
  • Works published on an individual’s website for non-profit purposes shall be considered unpublished, however, we ask that works entered into the competition be removed from the site. (Limited to works for which the usage rights have not been granted to the management of the web service. In the case that the rights to the work were granted to the management of the web service upon publication, the work must be reorganized before being entered.) In this case, please write the name of the website on the entry sheet.
  • Manuscripts cannot be returned, so please make sure you keep a copy.
  • We will request the data for works that pass the first screening. (The manuscript data should be sent by Word or text format.)
  • We only accept inquiries by e-mail. (Please do not inquire by telephone, letter or fax.) We will not under any circumstances accept inquiries about the screening.
  • Please make sure you fill in your contact details, especially your telephone number and e-mail address, as we will need them to contact you.
  • There is no limit on the number of works an individual (or group) applicant can make; however, each entry must be accompanied by a separate entry sheet.

Eligibility

Entries from professional or amateur entrants regardless of nationality are accepted.

Prizes

Grand Prize of 3 million yen + extra prize

Announcements

As a rule, announcements will be made on this site.
Expected in October 2012

Rights

Works awarded the Grand Prize will be published in book form in various languages including Japanese, and the writer will be paid royalties.
All rights regarding secondary use of the works awarded the Grand Prize or other prizes belong to the organizer. The fee for the rights for secondary use is included in the prize money.
